Ray's Weather Station
The information
available from my station is,
current weather
conditions at my location (Chatham, Kent. UK) which is updated
every 15 minutes.
Live
weather is also available (as above) which is updated every
5 seconds.
There is more
detailed information of my
weather data
from an external source which converts the data I forward to
them.
The equipment
used at my weather station is the Davis Pro Wireless which
consists of.......an anemometer mounted approx. 30ft above the
ground which gives recorded wind speed, wind gusts, average wind
speed, wind direction and average wind direction. Below the
anemometer is the rain gauge approx.12ft above the ground this
records the rainfall. hourly rain rate, daily rain rate and
total rain for 24 hrs. Fixed to the side of the rain gauge is
the temperature sensor which gives the high/low/average
temperature over the last 24 hrs/month/year. All that
information is relayed via radio waves to the main consul which
is in my radio radio shack. Being a radio ham I have to position
the consul so that transmissions from my radios do not interfere
with the weather station transmissions. There is also barometric
pressure, humidity, dew point and wind chill factor presented on
the consul and recorded. The weather consul is connected to the
computer via a serial cable and data is transferred to the
computer and is decoded by software (Virtual Weather Station)
and stored a tabular data which is retrievable.
